
Old Slave Market, Louisville, GA
Built in 1758 out of "Iron Wood" at the junction of 3
important highways, the timbers are original. The bell
hanging in this market and shown in the picture, was cast for a
French Convent in New Orleans, but captured by Pirates on the
way over to this country. The Pirates were later captured
and brought into Savannah and the bell was hung in the state
capitol, then located in Louisville, GA.
