
Russian Cossacks, the "Rough Riders" of Russia
The Cossacks of the river Don area pay no taxes, but
are liable to Russian military service from 18 to 50 and each
must furnish his own horse. They are the best light
cavalry in Russia and are excellent scouts and skirmishers.
In personal appearance, the Cossacks are more slender and
handsome then the Russians.

The Russian infantry is feared for their close fighting
skills with the bayonet, which is made a part of the gun and is
not removable. They are characteristically brave, enduring
and fight with a stubborn tenacity which has wrecked the hopes
of every army that has invaded Russian territory.

There are 12 regiments of the Grenadier of the Czar's
Guard. this is a formal review in St. Petersburg with the
