One of the most interesting sidelights of the war
is the use of large dogs to draw the Belgian guns. This
photo shows the dogs tired after a stiff march hauling the guns.
This photo in the newspapers of the time created the phrase, the
"Dogs of War."

with good roads. One car carries a machine gun to repel
