Home of Sidney Lanier
Georgia's most famous poet.
Hay House
Built in 1855, this Italian Renaissance home was a
marvel for the time. It had central heat,
indoor plumbing and an intercom. Legend has it
that it had a hidden room in which Confederate
gold was hidden from invading Union troops in the Civil War.
It is now owned by the Georgia
Trust for Historic Preservation.
