Originally chartered in 1836 as Georgia Female
College, the name was changed to Wesleyan
Female College in 1843.

Mercer University
Founded in 1831 under the Georgia Baptist
Convention, named after Rev. Jesse Mercer, a Baptist
advocate of higher learning. The school was originally
founded in Penfield, but moved to Macon in 1870.
Shown here is the administration building and to the right
is the Chapel.

St. Stanislaus' College
Originally founded in 1874 as Pio Nono College by
the Roman Catholic Church, in 1887 the Society of
Jesus took it over and changed its' name to St. Stanislaus'
College. Roman Catholic Priests were
trained there. The building burned in 1921.

This building was completed in 1924.
