Southern Female College-
This postcard shows the campus of Southern Female College on Church St. in LaGrange.  It was sponsored by the Baptist Church.   This campus was destroyed by fire in 1908.



Southern Female College
This postcard was a reprint of a pre-Civil War lithograph.  It represents the campus of the Baptist sponsored Southern Female College when it was located in the Greenville St. area east of LaGrange.  These buildings were destroyed by fire in 1863 and the college relocated to Church at Smith Streets.  This postcard dates from 1909.

Southern Female College on Church at Smith Streets., was sponsored by the Baptist Church.  These buildings were destroyed by fire in 1908 and a decision was made not to rebuild.  Many students transferred to Cox College in Atlanta.

This postcard was of the Girl's dormitory at LaGrange Female College, that later became LaGrange College.  It was sponsored by the Methodist Church.

Waights G. Henry, Jr. - Longtime President of LaGrange College
This postcard promoted the Methodist Church sponsored "The Protestant Hour" radio show done by Dr. Henry.

LaGrange High School -
This school was finished in 1947 on North Greenwood St.  The postcard states it was erected at a cost of more than a half million dollars to accommodate 600 students.  The exterior of the building is Indiana limestone and the entrances and stairways are made of pink marble.

LaGrange Public School -
Located at the corner of Harwell Ave. and Broome St., this was LaGrange's first public school building built shortly after the creation of the LaGrange School System in 1903.  It originally housed grades 1-11, but later was only used as the high school.  This building burned in 1943.  It was located across the street from Harwell Avenue elementary school.

This building was built in 1915 and burned in Dec. 1942.  It was the first school building on this site.

South West LaGrange Public School
Opened in 1916 and financed by Callaway Mills for the children of its' employees, it joined the LaGrange School system in 1919.  The building was torn down in 1952 and what is now known as Berta Weathersbee School was built on the same site facing Forrest Ave.
