Postmarked in 1936, the card states, "these hospitals
are equipped to take care of nearly every kind of sickness and
accident case. They have modern equipment and rank with
the best hospitals in the country."

Good Samaritan Hospital, Charlotte, NC
Good Samaritan Hospital was established in 1891 for the
black population of Charlotte. It was established by women
of the Episcopal Church of Charlotte. It was started with
two black doctors, Drs. Caldwell and Williams. This was
the first private hospital for blacks in the country.
